Investigating cyber crimes is a very difficult and persistent task and our cyber department is doing it with skill. But the nature of these crimes is so serious that ‘a person can get up from his life’ and therefore there is no alternative except public awareness. To avoid falling prey to cyber frauds, citizens should adopt the principles of “wait, watch, and act” during online transactions. Some essential guidelines to follow include:
1) Do not click on links from any unknown number or provide them with any of your sensitive information.
2) Do not give your banking details, password, ATM card, credit card, Aadhaar card, OTP information to anyone on
your mobile.
3) Use the privacy settings of social media accounts.
4) Do not download unknown applications, apk files.
In the event of cyber fraud, citizens should promptly report the incident to the cyber helpline number 1930 or visit the website www.cybercrime.gov.in
