False Complaints : The Sangli Police insists that people should refrain from lodging false complaints as it is an offence and is punishable by the law. It must also be understood that complaints can be tracked and people who lodge false complaints can be booked under the following provision of the law. As per Section 182 of Indian Penal Code 1860, whoever gives to any public servant any information which he knows or believes to be false, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
