Anti-Human Trafficking Cell
The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell plays a vital role in combating human trafficking, and its procedures are quite comprehensive. Here are some of the key procedures they follow:
- Conducting Special Investigations: The cell conducts special investigations into cases filed under Section 137 (2) of the BNSS 2023 in Sangli district police station.
- Rescue and Rehabilitation: They work to rescue child laborers, begging children, and crack down on gangs that exploit them. They also detect and take action against gangs transporting women, girls, and children for prostitution.
- Inspections and Prosecutions: Hotels and lodges are inspected, and prosecutions are initiated under the Prevention of Anti-Human Trafficking Act, 1956.
- Collaboration and Coordination: The cell coordinates with various departments, such as Women and Social Welfare, Labor, and social organizations working for women and children.
- Reuniting Families: They also work to find the parents of orphans in observation homes.
- Combating Prostitution: Action is taken against prostitution in areas like Kuntankhana and lodges.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell’s efforts are supported by the government, which has established various laws and schemes to combat human trafficking. For instance, the Ministry of Home Affairs has set up an Anti-Trafficking Cell to deal with matters related to human trafficking. Additionally, the National Commission for Women has launched an Anti-Human Trafficking Cell to improve effectiveness in tackling cases of human trafficking.
